Tarpon Action Heating Up

Last Updated on December 11, 2023 by Eric Bonneman

The tarpon fishing has been picking up the last couple of weeks after a slow start to the season. We’re finding a lot of tarpon south of Myrtle Beach, between Pawleys Island and Charleston along the beaches, jetties, and back in the shallow parts of Winyah Bay and Cape Romain. Most the tarpon we catch in South Carolina average between 110 and 130 lbs. Congrats to my anglers Richard from Winston Salem and Will Barber from Greensboro who both caught their first South Carolina tarpon last week.

The tarpon fishing should remain steady until the early part of October so the next 6 weeks are prime time! Contact me if you have any questions on how to catch them or would like to book a trip.
