December 2016 Fishing Report

Last Updated on January 4, 2017 by SteamWorks 2

As we brought 2016 to a close, we had some fantastic fishing for redfish and speckled trout around the holidays here in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We are still finding fish in both deep water areas as well as the usual shallow water spots. I have also noticed a considerable drop in the numbers of redfish from the same time last Winter so I hope to see them settle into their Winter patterns soon. Soft plastics remain my go to bait, even for clients who dont have much experience fishing these baits. Fishing soft plastic lures will make you a better angler… guaranteed!

I expect a lot of the same in January with hopes that shallow water action will fire off since this is my favorite time of year to fly fish for schooling redfish.

A special thanks to everyone who helped me make 2016 a good year. I met a lot of new friends last year and made a lot of wonderful memories. Im looking forward to a lot of great fishing trips in 2017! – Capt. Jordan Pate
